Ethnic Vase Natural Fiber | Baniwa

MANAJR-4

On the borders between Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela, the millenary Baniwa art resists transposing its ancestral graphics in arumã basketwork. The Baniwa culture brings together 31 South American indigenous peoples with Arawak language who survive from agriculture, fishing and art with natural fiber baskets - produced for sale since 1998 - adding cultural and environmental value to sustainable production.

For the Baniwa, this decorative vase represents a pitcher called kaxadádali, due to its “bellied” shape, symbolizing the shape of the universe. The artisanal works are done exclusively by men who also prepare and dye the arumã fibers for braiding.

Decorative art for decoration with ethnic style!
