In many African ethnic groups, wood is considered sacred, capable of transferring the spiritual energy of its nature to the arts that give structure. That's why most African masks are made from rustic wood as a ritualistic process that establishes a powerful connection with ancestry. This noble raw material is also handled with respect by Curral da Cor, which develops handicrafts in a sustainable way, considering reuse to minimize the environmental impact.
The wooden masks with metal supports, created by artisans from Prada, show the value of the material by highlighting the artistic painting on wood - a specialty of the atelier from Minas Gerais. In this work, the ethnic design inspired by the African culture of countries such as Congo, Gabon and Nigeria, is presented in a unique way to create environments where authenticity makes a home.
