Decorative "two-faced" mask carved and hand-painted by artisans from Bali, Indonesia.
Inspired by the tragedy and comedy personas of Greek theater, this wooden decorative art unites the dramaturgical culture of Ancient Greece with the Balinese style of painting, in which nature is always contemplated.
Greek dramaturgy originated in Athens in the 6th century BC, a period in which theatrical plays were ritualistic celebrations (tragoedia) to worship Dionysus, god of fertility and wine. In the rituals, personas (masks) were used to define the character and the emotions that would be transmitted - generally made with natural elements, such as wood.
This decorative art inspires fertility, the flowering of aspects in the soul under others that need to be transformed.
