Indigenous Mask Etnia Ricbactas

CR583-67

The wooden mask decorative art is the creation that Curral da Color best expresses the technical quality of sculpture and artistic quality of colorful painting. The cultural references that underlie the wide repertoire of the Prados-MG atelier from Minas Gerais extend to all corners of the world and, especially, to Brazil. As a result, the Ricbactas indigenous mask, with an aesthetic inspired by the body paintings and adornments of the Mato Grosso Indians of the Rikbaktsá ethnic group - which means "human beings" -, becomes an important element for decorations that value craftsmanship and indigenous culture .

Considered “Canoeiros”, due to their dexterity in the use of paddle canoes and “Orelhas de Pau” in reference to the botoques, round wooden ornaments attached to widen the earlobes, the Ricbacta Indians raise different birds such as macaws - whether yellow, red or blue -, whose feathers are used to make traditional accessories. In this decorative object, artisans from Minas Gerais highlighted this diversity through the colorful feather headdress, enhancing the painting of annatto and genipap.

An ethnic art to transform spaces!
